Creating your own MREs (Meals Ready to Eat)
Creating your own Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) is simple and more affordable than buying your regular bland-MRE's at your local military surplus or survival store. Creating your own MRE's gives you the opportunity to personalize each meal to your liking and most importantly gives you the peace of mind that you are prepared for an emergency. When packaged in Mylar bags with our oxygen absorbers, DIY MRE's have a shelf life of well over 25+ years!
There are a ton of shelf stable recipes you may incorporate into an MRE, here are a few great ideas.

Storage
Your DIY MRE can be stored in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. Our 2-quart Mylar gusset bags are an ideal storage container, as they can hold enough for a decent meal and you can add water directly into the pouch to rehydrate your meal (don’t forget to remove the oxygen absorber first!). We do suggest placing the bag in a study container to hold it up when pouring boiling water.
You can then store your MRE packages in a larger 5 gallon Mylar bags and inside a food-grade 5 gallon bucket for extra protection.
