Baby Shower Treats – With a PackFreshUSA Finish!
I recently earned the joyful title of Grandma, and what better way to celebrate than by making something sweet for my grandson’s baby shower.
Naturally, I went all out with freeze-dried and non-freeze-dried treats — and they were a huge hit! But here’s the secret: no matter how tasty your treats are, presentation is everything. That’s where PackFreshUSA comes in. Their high-quality bags made it so easy to create beautiful, professional-looking party favors that wowed every guest.
Freeze-Dried Jello Treats – Colorful, Fun & Perfect for Any Theme
If you own a freeze-dryer and haven’t tried making Jello treats, it’s time to change that! These bright, playful bites are easy to make and absolutely adorable — especially when you use fun molds to match your party theme.
For my grandson’s car-themed baby shower, I used car-shaped silicone molds, and the results were a total crowd-pleaser.

How to Make Freeze-Dried Jello
Ingredients & Tools:
-
Your favorite Jello (regular or sugar-free)
-
Themed silicone molds
-
Freeze-dryer & trays
-
Freezer
-
Optional: PackFreshUSA Stand-Up Pouches & labels
Step-by-Step:
-
Prepare the Jello according to the package instructions.
-
Place molds on trays and carefully pour the liquid Jello into each mold.
-
Transfer trays to the freezer and allow the Jello to fully set (at least 4 hours).
-
Once set, gently unmold the Jello shapes and arrange them on your freeze-dryer trays.
-
Repeat the process until your trays are full — it may take a few batches, but it’s worth the time!
-
Run your freeze-dryer on a regular cycle, and I recommend adding 12 extra hours for best results. (I usually pull the trays early, depending on my schedule.)
Note: Sugar-free Jello works too! It freeze-dries nicely but comes out with a slightly spongier texture.
Freeze-Dried Fruits – Sweet, Simple & Crowd-Pleasing
The fruit treats were a huge hit at the baby shower — colorful, delicious, and surprisingly easy to make!
I freeze-dried a vibrant mix of fruits including apples, bananas, strawberries, mango, kiwi, and more. Each one had its own flavor twist, and a few creative additions took them to the next level.
Apples with a Flavor Twist
Fresh apple slices became irresistible treats with just a sprinkle of flavored Jello powder or cinnamon sugar.
Here’s how I did it:
-
Wash and slice your apples thinly
-
Lightly sprinkle with flavored Jello (like strawberry, lime, or blue raspberry)
-
Place slices evenly on your freeze-drying trays
These were bright, flavorful, and perfect for both kids and adults.
Bananas – Versatile & Delicious
Bananas are another freeze-drying favorite. Simply:
-
Peel and slice into rounds
-
Enjoy plain, or get creative by dusting with Jello powder, cocoa powder, or even pudding mix before drying
They freeze-dry beautifully and the natural sweetness shines through — no added sugar needed!
However, I took the freeze-dried bananas and dipped them in chocolate. These turned out amazing. I had people asking me for more. Freeze-dried Bananas dipped in chocolate
Strawberries – A Freeze-Drying Favorite
Strawberries are hands-down one of the easiest and tastiest fruits to freeze-dry.
Just:
- Wash and slice
- Spread evenly on trays
That’s it! If the strawberries are more tart, I sprinkle strawberry jello on top. Tips for Freeze-drying Strawberries
They dry beautifully, maintain their vibrant color, and pack a naturally sweet flavor punch.
Pro Tip: For extra crunch, use fully ripe strawberries and slice them consistently for even drying. Freeze-dried strawberries also rehydrate well, making them perfect for cereals, baking, or trail mixes.
Effortless & Fun to Share
I truly enjoyed making these fruit treats — they were easy to prep, full of color, and packed with flavor. With the help of PackFreshUSA’s high-quality packaging, each fruit variety looked fantastic and traveled well across four states.
Whether you’re making gifts, prepping snacks, or stocking your pantry, freeze-dried fruit is a must-try — and adds a healthy, vibrant touch to any celebration.
Dip It in Chocolate – Baby Shower Treats Made Easy
Pretzel Rods are one of the easiest and most fun treats to make for events like baby showers! For this batch, I skipped the usual stand-up pouches from PackFreshUSA and instead used their Freezer-Pop bags—and they turned out absolutely adorable.
Tips for Perfectly Dipped Treats:
-
Chocolate Melts: These are your best friend. Available in a variety of colors, they melt down easily and are perfect for customizing. I like to add a small spoonful of coconut oil to give the chocolate a smooth finish and a glossy shine.
-
Food-Safe Coloring: For a baby shower, I colored white chocolate in different shades of blue using food-safe gel coloring. You can find this in the baking aisle, near the cake decorating supplies.
-
What to Dip:
-
Pretzel Rods
-
Oreos
-
Wafers
-
Rice Krispie Treats
Just dip, swirl, and decorate!
-
-
Finishing Touches: Sprinkles instantly add charm and fun. I also poured leftover melts into tiny silicone bow molds to make cute edible decorations. These little extras really make the treats pop.
Whether it’s a themed shower or just a festive party, these dipped goodies are easy to make, totally customizable, and guaranteed to impress.
The Finishing Touch – Packaging with Style
Now for the fun part: choosing the right bags!
With so many colors and styles from PackFreshUSA, it was easy to find the perfect fit for our little race car theme. My go-to options:
I used the small size, which was just right for a handful of colorful Jello cars, chocolate dipped treats, fruits and more. For the Rice Krispy Treats and some of the other Chocolate Dipped Cookies I used mostly medium size Stand-Up Pouches.
To personalize each treat bag, I created cute custom labels using Avery mailing labels — one on the front for decoration and another to let guests know what was inside.
Ready for the Road
After sealing the bags with my impulse sealer or using the seal element from my vacuum sealer, I packed everything into bins for the road — and these treats made it safely across four states to the finish line without a hitch.
Whether you're prepping for a baby shower, birthday, or just experimenting in the kitchen, freeze-dried Jello is fun, easy, and guaranteed to impress — especially when packed in PackFreshUSA Stand-up Pouches!
Final Thought - being a parent was wonderful but watching your child become a mom herself is truly a blessing! Let us know if you have any further questions and what additional tips to make your special events better.
Happy Prepping!
