Freeze-Dried Patriotic Jello Bites

Stars, Hats & USA Treats for America's 250th Birthday!

There's something about red, white, and blue that makes everyone smile—especially when it's shaped like stars, Uncle Sam hats, and "USA!" These freeze-dried Patriotic Jello Bites are one of my favorite Fourth of July treats because they're incredibly easy to make, they look adorable, and they're always the first snack to disappear from the table.

The best part? You only need a few boxes of Jello, some fun patriotic molds, and your freeze dryer. Once they're finished, package them in PackFreshUSA Stand-Up Pouches and you've got a colorful treat that's perfect for fireworks, family reunions, backyard BBQs, or handing out as party favors.

What You'll Need

  • Cherry Jello
  • Strawberry Jello
  • Blue Raspberry Jello
  • Berry Blue Jello ?
  • Patriotic silicone molds
    • ⭐ Stars
    •  Uncle Sam Hats
    • USA Letter Molds
    • Cherry
    • Dots or Stripes
  • Freeze dryer
  • PackFreshUSA Small or Medium Stand-Up Pouches

My Favorite Pouches

For these colorful treats, I like using:

  • White/Clear Stand-Up Pouches
  • Silver/Clear Stand-Up Pouches

Both really show off the bright patriotic colors while keeping the treats fresh.

Directions

Prepare each flavor of Jello according to the package directions.

Pour the liquid into your patriotic silicone molds.

I love using:

⭐ Blue stars

Uncle Sam hats

USA letter molds in both red and blue

Place the filled molds into the refrigerator until the Jello is completely set.

Once firm, gently remove each shape from the molds and arrange them on your freeze dryer trays.

Return the trays to the freezer until you're ready to start your freeze dryer.

Run a normal freeze-drying cycle using your machine's standard settings.

Once the candy has cooled after the cycle is complete, package immediately to preserve that wonderful crunchy texture.

Mimi's Tips

  • Freeze the trays again after removing the Jello from the molds. Starting with frozen treats helps everything stay in place during loading.
  • Use several different mold designs to make your finished bags even more festive.
  • Mix red and blue shapes together in each pouch for a patriotic assortment.
  • Package as soon as they're cool. Freeze-dried Jello loves to absorb moisture from the air.
  • These disappear FAST—so make more than you think you'll need!

Perfect For

  • Fourth of July celebrations
  • America's 250th Birthday parties
  • Fireworks
  • School celebrations
  • Family reunions
  • Parade snacks
  • BBQ dessert tables
  • Party favors

These crunchy little bites are colorful, fun to eat, and always get people asking, "How did you make these?"

Mimi Says...
