Mimi’s Christmas Dog Treats — Frozen or Freeze-Dried for Pup Gifting!
While Mimi’s kitchen is overflowing with cocoa, sprinkles, and goodies for the grandkids, she didn’t forget her furry friends this Christmas. Apollo sat by her feet, giving his best “I’m a good boy” eyes, and that was all the inspiration she needed to whip up a festive batch of homemade dog treats — wholesome, simple, and completely pup-approved.
These treats use just two ingredients, blend beautifully, freeze perfectly, and can even be freeze-dried for long-lasting gifts. Apollo says every dog on the block deserves one… and Mimi agrees.
Ingredients
-
4–6 cups refrigerated dog food (Blue Buffalo or similar fresh dog food)
-
1-2 cups plain Greek yogurt (no sugar added)
(Add more yogurt as needed for smooth blending)
Instructions
1. Blend it smooth
Add the dog food and Greek yogurt to a mixer or food processor. Blend until the mixture becomes creamy, thick, and spreadable. If it’s too dense, add a little more yogurt until it smooths out nicely.
2. Fill the molds
Mimi uses bone- and paw-shaped silicone molds — because if we’re making dog treats for Christmas, they should be adorable!
Spread the mixture into the molds, pressing to make sure each cavity fills completely, then smooth the tops.
3. Freeze until solid
Place the filled molds in the freezer for 3–4 hours or until the treats are firm. At this stage, you can store them in the freezer and serve as a chilled, soft treat.
4. Or… Freeze-Dry Them for Gifting
You can stop at freezing, but Mimi loves making things special — and freeze-dried treats make the cutest, longest-lasting Christmas gifts for pups.
Once the molded treats are frozen solid:
-
Pop them out of the molds.
-
Arrange in a single layer on freeze-dryer trays.
-
Run a normal freeze-dry cycle.
-
Mimi adds a few extra dry hours just to make sure they’re perfectly crisp and shelf-stable.
The freeze-dried version has a light, crunchy texture dogs absolutely adore — even picky pups come running.
And of course, Apollo insists on gifting them to the neighborhood dogs. According to him, it's only right that his friends get a Christmas surprise from Mimi’s kitchen, too. He supervised every tray, tail wagging like a festive metronome. He also got to sample and he gave his approval!
Perfect Christmas Packaging
For gifting, Mimi packs the finished treats into Stand Up Pouches, which keep them fresh, cute, and ready for delivery by one very proud pup.
Recommended sizes:
-
Small Stand-Up Pouches for individual pup gifts
-
Medium Pouches for multi-dog households
Festive colors Mimi loves:
-
Kraft/Clear Stand-Up Pouches (5 mil) (for that homemade, bakery feel)
Add a ribbon and a tag. We wrote on ours:
“Merry Woof-mas! A gift from Apollo & Mimi.”
Mimi’s & Apollo's Closing

These simple dog treats turned into one of Mimi’s favorite Christmas projects. Whether frozen or freeze-dried, they’re made with love — and Apollo couldn’t wait to trot around the neighborhood delivering them to all his furry friends.
Because in Mimi’s world, everyone deserves a homemade Christmas treat… even the pups who leave paw prints on her heart (and occasionally on her kitchen floor).
